Sheriff Steve Barry is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 Akron Optimist Club Award. This year’s recipients were Deputy Leigh Burdette and Deputy Michael Beers. They were honored at a luncheon on September 3rd, 2019 at the New Era Restaurant located at 10 Massillon Road, Akron, Ohio.
Deputy Burdette was hired in 1997 and she has been assigned to the Patrol Bureau as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education Deputy for 20 years.
Deputy Beers was hired in 2002 and he has been assigned to the Patrol Bureau as a Drug Abuse Resistance Education Deputy for 7 years.
