A Special Community Effort

By Chris Ramos

On May 6th, 2017, Nordonia Hills City Schools will be hosting The Summit County Special Olympics Track and Field Day in partnership with Special Olympics Summit County. Nordonia Track and Field Day will provide a phenomenal opportunity for students with intellectual disabilities to showcase their athletic abilities along with their peers from across the county. Along the way, families, friends and community members will provide enormous support!

This kind of community effort is appalling to see and it certainly emphasizes the quality of selflessness. Joyous faces will not be scarce. Many of us tend to become submerged under our daily pressures, therefore this event will provide a chance for us to experience relief and to experience impacting interactions.

Opening ceremonies start 9:00 AM and closing ceremonies are at 12:15 PM.

Student volunteers are welcomed with open arms, as they will be needed for setting up the venue, greeting guests, registration, activity areas, and assisting with track and field events. For those who would like to help, you can start at 8:00 AM with registration and help until 1:30 PM, following the closing ceremonies. If you are interested in volunteering during any part of the day, please see Karen Volin in the high school guidance office with your availability. For more information regarding the event, Carrie Hutchinson at the board office can assist you.

Thank you Nordonia!
