BREAKING NEWS – Northfield Village Fire Truck Involved in Accident

Thursday about 10:53 am, The Northfield Village fire engine was responding to a day care at 185 Ledge Rd. regarding on odor of gas.  Upon arrival, fire engine 3514 was traveling eastbound on Ledge Rd and made a left-hand turn into the turnaround drive way to park facing westbound. The fireman, Gary Skelly, drove off the pavement and side swiped a tree. The 2010 Peirce Pumper fire truck suffered damage to its cabinet. emergency reflectors and lights as well as a hand rail. The engine is at Finley Fire for repairs. Chief Jason stated that fireman Skelly provided a urine analysis, a standard procedure when an accident occurs. Skelly is temporarily on non-driving duties in the fire department. Chief Jason Buss will have an estimate on the damage later today, which surely will be thousands of dollars. Luckily, there were no injuries.
