CHAMBER CHATTER 3-3-18 How is your Elevator Speech?

By Laura Sparano

How is your Elevator Speech?  Not sure what that is or if you have one?  An elevator speech is a clear, brief message or “commercial” about you. It communicates who you are, what you’re looking for and how you can benefit a company or organization. It’s typically about 30 seconds, the time it takes people to ride from the top to the bottom of a building in an elevator.  When was the last time you updated yours?  At the March 8 NHCOC meeting, Phil Stella will help us craft the perfect elevator pitch that will spark interest in your business and hopefully lead to a deeper conversation – which leads to sales!  This meeting, sponsored by UH Ahuja Medical Center, is open to the public and will take place at Spennato’s Ristorante at 11:30 on Thursday, March 8.  The cost of admission is $15 for chamber members and $20 for all others.   Lunch is included.  This month’s presentation will help prepare you for the April 12 Speed Networking meeting at Brentwood Health Care Campus.  These are two meetings you don’t want to miss.  RSVP’s are requested – 330-467-8956.  This meeting is also our opportunity to thank our Expo 2018 sponsors.

A new benefit of membership in the Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce is access to a guaranteed issue life insurance policy up to $100,000 for you and your employees. The program is administered by Ridgway & Associates Insurance through Grange Life Insurance (Kevin Waldron – 330-656-2038).

Guaranteed Issue means YOU ARE APPROVED if you are between 18 and 70 for up to a $100,000 death benefit with no medical exam, no lab tests and no needles!  Some of the features include affordable coverage with terms for 10 or 20 years or for a lifetime and hassle free automatic payments from a checking or savings account.  This new benefit includes a “Simple Issue” policy (only 8 questions) for a spouse and children. Coverage for children aged 0 to 17 is available as an addition to a parent’s policy. Adult children aged 18-25 can apply for their own policy.  If you work for a NHCOC member (or work for one) and are looking for affordable life insurance, call Kevin and get the details of this great new benefit.

Just a few weeks left until the 26th Annual Community Expo!  (March 24, 9-3:30 at Nordonia High School)  A few booths are still available but if you’ve decided to pass this year, there are many reasons why you might want to just be an attendee this year.  There are many ways to look for products and suppliers, but nothing can beat the benefits that your local community expo has to offer.   At our Expo, you can…

  • Find new markets and opportunities
  • See novelties and new products & services
  • Evaluate products and suppliers – you get competitive information about a wide range of products and suppliers in a short space of time
  • Look for specific products and services
  • Find information to solve specific problems
  • Evaluate your competitors
  • Generate new business contacts
  • Meet colleagues from your own industry (politics, business)

Make a day of it.  Bring the family, stay for lunch, relax and be entertained by local groups and leave with a real sense of our community.

New Chamber members profiled this week are Rhino Shield and Mayne’s Roofing.  You can visit both of these businesses at the Expo on March 24!

Rhino Shield specializes in the manufacture and application of long lasting coatings for building exteriors.  The professional ceramic coating applicators, field consultants, and supervisors take great pride in each project.  Their intent is to insure that once their project is completed, the client will not have to address exterior maintenance issues for a long time.  Your local Rhino Shield representative is Rich Deem from the Northfield office.  He can be reached at 330-467-4326.

Mayne’s Roofing, offering Commercial and Residential Roofing in Northeast Ohio, is family owned and operated serving the Cleveland, Akron/Canton areas for the past 19 years with over 25 years experience.  Owner Doug Mayne explains that his business offers full roof replacement, tear-offs and replacement for all flat roofs, slate and tile tear-offs and repairs, gutters and downspouts, chimney flashings and tuck pointing. Anything you need for your roof – he can handle it!  Stop in to see Doug at the Expo or call (216) 536-5201 for an estimate.

Our ONLY business is YOUR business!
