Earth Day in Macedonia 2017 (Photo Gallery)

The sun was shining on the attendees today at the annual Earth Day in Macedonia’s Longwood Park. Many people of different ages were armed with trash pickers and garbage bags – wearing bright Earth Day t-shirts. The bright colored shirts were spotted all over the grounds at Longwood Park as pickers picked up an array of trash. Home Depot always has a nice group of people helping and this year was no exception. Chris Sheigel from Home Depot said “The earth day commitment has made the park better for the community.” Macedonia City Councilor Kevin Bilkie read a proclamation about Arbor day and Earth day. Attendees learned how to plant a tree and received their own seedling to plant. It is very fitting that local children helped plant the tree. Just like the song says: “I believe that children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. – Whitney Houston’s The Greatest Love of All
