STORM DAMAGE UPDATE
A line of severe storms began hitting our area at around 6:00PM. Rumors have it that a wind gust reached around 100 MPH! There are no confirmed reports of tornados in the area. Power was knocked out in Northfield Center, Northfield Village, Sagamore Hills, Macedonia, Twinsburg and probably other areas as well. Power began being restored shortly after 9PM (9:30PM at my home.)
Trees are down all over our township and many roads are closed with barricades. Our Service Department called in all workers and they cleared many of the blocked roadways. They even got me out to help with traffic control and damage assessment.
Several homes in our Township sustained severe damage from snapped and uprooted trees that crashed into homes, including my fellow Trustee, John Romanik.
Our Sheriff’s Office sent many deputies from the County Jail to assist residents and help with traffic control.
There are MANY wires down and across roads. We have those barricaded. Thankfully, most of the downed wires are secondary lines (220 volts) but now that power is being restored, the high lines (around 7,800 volts) could become active so PLEASE, do not cross or go anywhere near these or any other downed lines.
I anticipate that we will have the Service Department assist in some kind of emergency branch chipping so stay tuned for information.
