Letter to the Editor from Renell M. Noack

Can you tell me what is wrong with this picture?

My brother-in-law was a police officer for Sagamore Hills for 20+ years and just passed away. I reached out to the Chief of Police to see what the policemen could do to honor an officer. What was the answer? “Nothing!!!” I asked why, “he was retired”, was the reply. So my question was – even though you are retired and put your life on the line, Sagamore Hills Police will do nothing???? I was informed that they don’t do anything for retired officers BUT he’d put a memo out for the officers and let them make their own personal decision. Oh – just so you know – if an office wants to be buried in a uniform, they will provide the uniform. I said thank you and hung up.

What a horrible way to show respect or appreciation for a fellow officer.

Unbelievable and unacceptable!!!!

It saddens me that this would affect any and all that put their lives on the line for our safety.  I would think that all are entitled to at least receive an honor guard.

A huge thank you to the Brooklyn Heights Police – they stepped in and made sure that a fellow police office received what was due them.

Brooklyn Heights Police – you are a class act and thank you from me and my family.

Sagamore Hills Police — shame on you!!!
