DITCH PETITION MEETING DATE CORRECTION

In my previous newsletter I inadvertently stated that the upcoming Ditch Petition meeting was scheduled for August 27th.  For some ‘strange’ reason I’ve had August on my mind lately.  I am sorry if this caused any confusion.  Here is the CORRECTION:  The ditch petition meeting is scheduled for NEXT WEDNESDAY JULY 27TH at 6PM at the Elementary School.  I want to thank Joe Paradise from the County Engineer’s Office for pointing out this error to me.

SOLICITOR LICENSES ISSUED

As of today there are currently six (6) solicitors registered and licensed by Summit County to solicit door-to-door in Northfield Center.  Those companies are:

Aptive Environmental

Edward Jones Investments

Fussy Cleaners

Insight Pest Solutions

Renewal By Anderson

Southwestern Advantage Learning Systems

YOUR GENERAL COMMENTS

I am looking to become a better informed citizen.  As we have been told on more than one occasion by Mr. Romanik and you, we are writing editorials full of “a lot of misinformation and even lies,” I am requesting from you a forward of your Newsletter #457, June 6.

Also, Mr. Romanik stated that he would like to thank the 300 supporters of Issue 3.  Since you wrote in one of your newsletters that a large majority of over 300 citizens responded to you in favor of Issue 3, would you please share this list of names with him.

As a person with a full-time job, a part-time job, living paycheck to paycheck, is it ever taken into consideration how people are expected to just keep paying more taxes?  If passed, my property taxes will increase 10%.  Then, come November, a permanent improvement levy will go on the ballot.  More taxes.  Less to improve my life permanently.  Would you be able to provide account and routing numbers for Summit County.  This way, I could just have my direct deposit sent to Summit.  That’s where it’s headed.  A loss of freedom.

Thank you for your time.

Richard Prusak

[Paul’s Response]

Mr. Prusak,

I have to be honest when I say that I am getting really tired of having to constantly address all of the misinformation that is being circulated by some of you people.  The simple changing, adding or deleting of a single word can change the meaning and perception of everything.

First of all, I was more than happy to resend my #457 newsletter as requested, which I did.  Then in my last newsletter, Mr. Romanik wrote, in part, “And to Mr. Prusak, whom I’ve never met and who wrote about me in last week’s News Leader, as soon as I find out who my three hundred ‘merry’ supporters are, I will be sure to thank them.”  Is it that hard to see the obvious sarcasm in John’s statement, which was in response to YOUR sarcasm?  Why did you take it as a fact?  And then you stated that I wrote in one of my newsletters that a “Large” majority of over 300 citizens responded in favor of Issue 3.  I challenge you to show me where I used the word “Large?”  Do you see what I mean by one word changing things?

Last but certainly not least, you stated that a “permanent improvement levy will go on the ballot” in November.  WHAT LEVY?  I am not aware of any levy that is planned for the November ballot!  And then you wonder why many people are confused over this issue or was that what you and others planned from the beginning?

……………………………………………………………..

I would love to vote for the levy, but there is no way on God’s green earth I can afford  any more taxes

I am a senior on a fixed income and I know many seniors feel like I do. With the schools  and other groups asking for levies at different times, it would be to hard especially for seniors. If this keeps up I will have to move out of Northfield Center Twp. Lots of us will have no choice and I love it here.

……………………………………………………………..

Perhaps we should have a voluntary pay system where each homeowner pays his share of the levy.  Those who do not pay can stand back and watch their home burn like that news story a few years ago where a house caught fire and the fire department ignored it because they refused to pay.

I’ll be the first in line with my checkbook.
