Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the February challenge, make your way through the snowflake maze!

Storytimes
Baby Time
Thursday, 10:15 am, February 25
For children 24 months and under with a parent or caregiver. Our programs feature bounces, songs, and stories.

Toddler Story Time
Thursday, 11:15 am, February 25
For children 2-3 years old, with two-year-olds accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Short stories, rhymes, and more!

Preschool Story Time
Thursday, 12:30 pm, February 25
For children 3-5 years old, not yet in Kindergarten. Stories, rhymes, and more!

Great Lakes Theater Play
We welcome the acclaimed theater troupe back to Nordonia Hills for a sixteenth year as they present a world premiere play written by David Hansen and directed by Lisa Ortenzi: THE SECRET ADVERSARY: A TOMMY & TUPPENCE ADVENTURE, based on the novel by Agatha Christie. Seating is first come-first seated. No registration will be taken. Thursday, February 25, at 7 p.m.

Friends of the Library Book Sale – new public hours!
The Friends of Nordonia Hills Branch Library will hold their Spring Book Sale Friday, March 4, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. AND Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A $4.00 bag sale begins at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The preview sale for Friends members is Friday, March 4, from 12 Noon to 3 p.m. Memberships starting at $5.00 may be purchased at the door. You must be a member to attend.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, March 8, 6-8 p.m.

Teen Café
For students in grade 5 and up. One Wednesday a month at 4 p.m. Please register for each date. Wednesday, March 9 – Create a springy button bowl to brighten up your room.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe returns to Wednesdays in 2016 starting on Wednesday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussions
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, March 10 at 2 p.m. We will discuss All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

Just Keep Rowing: Lessons From the Atlantic by the Youngest Person to Row It Alone
Authors Katie Spotz and Mark Bowles discuss Katie’s story of courage and endurance as the youngest person to ever row the Atlantic Ocean, all in support of providing clean drinking water for all. This program includes a multimedia presentation with Q&A. Registration is suggested. Thursday, March 10, 7 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, March 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy on Monday, March 14 at 2 p.m.

3rd – 4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m., we will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Monday, March 14, we will read Guinea Dog by Patrick Jennings.

Hands-On Computer Classes

No registration is required; however, you must have a ticket to be admitted to each hands-on class. Class size is strictly limited to 15 participants. Tickets will be passed out ½ hour prior to each class time.
*Must bring your own device to these sessions.

College Students: Positioning Yourself for Employment
During this session Kelly Gadzinski of KG Services, LLC will be going over keys steps that every college student should take throughout their college career to best position themselves for employment upon graduation. College students at all levels of their college career and/or their parents are encouraged to attend. Tuesday, March 15, 6:30 p.m.

After School Club
After School Club is one Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. for children in Kindergarten – 4th grade. On Wednesday, March 16, we will make a St. Patrick’s Day craft.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The first meeting will be a meet and greet on Wednesday, March 16.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular games “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy: board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, March 19, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Family Night
Join our crafts program for families of all ages! Monday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. – Come in and make Monster Jaws.

YOGA off the Mat: Cleveland Clinic Style Wellness Yoga
Learn soothing stretches to incorporate into daily life in this gentle yoga series from an instructor certified in Cleveland Clinic style Wellness Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Attend one class or the whole series, and please dress in comfortable clothing. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Wednesdays, March 23, 30, and April 6, 6:30 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers, meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. Our next discussion title will be The Last Policeman by Ben H. Winters on Wednesday, March 23 at 7 p.m.

The Convention of States
James Petsche discusses the background of Article V of the U. S. Constitution, exploring the possibility of a convention of states. Registration is suggested. Thursday, March 24 at 7 p.m.

Science Saturday
Do you like to see how things work? Are you a hands-on type of kid? This program is for you! Children school age and up bring moms, dads, and the whole family. We’re going to decorate eggs with natural dyes on Saturday, March 26 at 2:30 p.m.

5th& 6th Grade Book Club
One Monday each month at 6:30 p.m., we will meet to talk about this month’s book over a drink and a snack. Monday, March 28 – Now Look What You’ve Done by Stephan Pastis.
