Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize.

Baby Time
Baby Time is Thursdays, January 10 – January 24 at 10:15 a.m. It features books, bounces, songs, and bubbles followed by a play time for children 24 months and younger with a parent or caregiver.

Story Time
Story Time is Thursdays, January 10 – January 24 at 11:30 a.m. for children ages 2-5. It features stories, rhymes, music, and bubbles followed by play time.

After School Club
After School Club is one Wednesday per month, for children in Kindergarten through 4th grade. On Wednesday, January 9 at 4 p.m., make a penguin water bottle craft.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, January 9 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our next discussion is Thursday, January 10, 2 p.m. to discuss Carnegie’s Maid: a Novel by Marie Benedict.

The Magic of the Balalaika
Virtuoso Oleg Kruglyakov performs a fascinating, fun, conversational-style program of live Russian music, performing on balalaika and singing with backing tracks. Thursday, January 10, 7 p.m.

Teens Do Something
This is a great way for students in 5th through 12th grades to volunteer. We will meet one Saturday a month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to do a different type of project. Please contact us for more details. Saturday, January 12.

Science Saturday

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss The Guest Cottage by Nancy Thayer on Monday, January 14 at 2 p.m.

Messy Monday
Messy Monday is one Monday a month. Create with clay and then paint your creation on Monday, January 14 at 6 p.m.

Avoiding Big Mistakes When Saving for Retirement
Learn how to avoid big mistakes when saving for retirement – topics covered include inflation, asset allocation, taxation, and healthcare costs. This program will help you identify what you have, what you need, and how to get there for retirement planning. Tuesday, January 15, 6 p.m.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 16.

Up, Up and Away! Launching Your Early Learner
Come out and see us Saturday, January 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at Northfield Elementary. Parents with Children ages 0-4 are invited to join Nordonia Hills City Schools to learn more about preparing your child for kindergarten. Meet with local preschool providers, Nordonia kindergarten teachers and a variety of early childhood resources. There will be hands-on activities for children. Free breakfast will be provided. The library will be at the Up, Up, and Away! Launching your Early Learner event as a community resource.

Nordonia Hill Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, January 19, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments served. Medicare 101
Are you going to be eligible for Medicare this year? Then this FREE Medicare program is for you! Sarah Florimonte, a Community Liaison for the Ohio Department of Insurance’s OSHIIP division, will cover Medicare Part A and Part B benefits, the prescription drug benefit (Part D), Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare supplement insurance. Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program representatives are trained by the state, and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies, or agents. Wednesday, January 23, 6 p.m.

Let’s Eat!
For students in grade 5 and up. One Tuesday a month at 3:30 p.m. we will get together and create something delicious. Tuesday, February 5 – try out a microwave chocolate mug cake.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m., we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, February 11, create animal-shaped valentine cards.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, February 12, 6-8 p.m.

Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And remember we have cookies! Wednesday, February 13 at 3:30 p.m.
