Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the July challenge, take on the Math Grid!

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussions
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, July 14 at 2 p.m. We will discuss The Execution of Noa P. Singleton by Elizabeth L. Silver.

Teen Cafe
For students in grade 5 and up. Thursdays at 2 p.m. between June 9 and July 30.
July 14 – Turn clothespins into Wirework Jewelry.
July 21 – Come play Banana Grams on the lawn (or the floor if it rains).
July 28 – Create a rope bowl.

Wellness Yoga: Yoga off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Fridays, July 15, 22, and 29 at 12:30 p.m.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular games “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy: board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, July 16, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m. we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, July 18, create your own space night light.

School Age Fun!
For students in Kindergarten-5th grade. Tuesdays at 2 p.m.
July 19 – Mr. Puppet and his ventriloquism skills!
July 26 – Party Couture leads an end-of-Mind, Body, & Sole celebration

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, July 20.

The Truth Is…..Confessions and Tips From an Elementary School Teacher
Author Rebecca Thomas shares her 28-year journey through the public school system and all of the unexpected situations that she encountered along the way. Everyone has in some way been influenced by a teacher and can relate to these stories. Gain an insight into the world of teaching that you may never have considered. Registration suggested. Thursday, July 21, 7 p.m.

5th & 6th Grade Book Club
We will meet to talk about this month’s book with a drink and a snack. Monday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. – My Life as a Book by Janet Tashjian.

DIY Nail Polish Marbling
Create your own marbled masterpieces on a variety of surfaces with nail polish and water. All supplies provided. This class is limited to twenty participants, so registration is suggested. Tuesday, July 26, 6 p.m.

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Wednesday, July 27, 6 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussion
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers, meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. Our next discussion will be King of the Holly Hop by Les Roberts on Wednesday, July 27 at 7 p.m.

Introduction to Reading Music I
Theresa Prezioso presents an easy-to-understand tour of a musical score with an explanation of the musical notations. With this newfound knowledge you may even leave the class inspired to finally learn to play your favorite instrument! Registration suggested. Thursday, July 28, 7 p.m.

Introduction to Reading Music II
This follow-up program will start with a brief demonstration of what was covered in Part I, and, time permitting, provide each attendee with a visual and tactile opportunity to practice what was presented. Registration suggested. Thursday, August 4, 7 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, August 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss A Touch of Stardust by Kate Alcott on Monday, August 8 at 2 p.m.

3rd – 4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m., we will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Monday, August 8, we will read Charlie Joe Jackson’s Guide to Summer Vacation by Tom Greenwald.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, August 9, 6-8 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe returns to Wednesdays in 2016 starting on Wednesday, August 10 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Your Family Matters
Learn about deeds, probate court, vehicle licenses, and more. A free program presented by Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen Scalise, Judge Elinore March Stormer, and Clerk of Courts Daniel Horrigan. Registration is suggested. Thursday, August 11, 7 p.m.

SmashCraft: Tournament and Retro Gaming
Join your fellow gamers for a Super Smash Brothers Wii U tournament with prizes, or try your hand at the Pac-Man high-score contest. If tournament play isn’t your thing, check out the open gaming corner with Minecraft and retro gaming. All ages and walk-ins welcome, but pre-registration for the Smash tournament is strongly suggested. Saturday, August 13, 1 – 4 p.m.
