Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize.
For July, complete the strings dot –to-dot.

Summer Food Drive
In partnership with The Emergency Assistance Center of Northfield, the Library is hosting a summer food drive for the month of July. Canned and boxed foods (non-expired) are requested. Drop off donations in the Library lobby. July 2 – 31.

Shopping at Stores (Couponing Pt. 2)
Dive into the world of coupons! During this class, blogger, Rachel Krych, dives deeper into the world of couponing. She’ll share tips on how to maximize your savings at specific stores as well as how to use money saving apps. Taking the first class, Couponing 101, is recommended but not mandatory. Wednesday, July 25, 6 p.m.

Teen Mini Makerspace
For students going into grade 5 and up. Thursday, July 26 at 2 p.m. We’re making bookmarks.

Quintessential Jack: The Art of Jack Nicholson
Author Scott Edwards discusses his recent book, a film viewers’ guide chronicling the career of three-time Academy Award-winning actor Jack Nicholson. Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, July 26, 7 p.m.

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Tuesday, July 31, 6 p.m.

Author Andi Lawrencovna
This local author will discuss her recent fantasy fiction series Charming, plus writing and the publishing experience. Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, August 2, 7 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, August 4, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Teens Do Something
This is a great way for students going into 5th through 12th grades to volunteer. We meet every other Monday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. to do a different type of project. Please contact us for more details. Next meeting is Monday, August 6.

Cookies and Conversation
The second Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m., meet to talk about what’s going on your life, school, town or the world. We’ll discuss philosophy, current events or whatever is on the group’s mind. And remember we have cookies! Wednesday, August 8 at 3:30 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe opens on Wednesday, August 8 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussion
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our next discussion is Thursday, August 9 at 2 p.m. We will discuss Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, by Lisa See.

Vintage Cleveland
This presentation offers a tour of the city in days of yore, covering such prominent Cleveland landmarks as Public Square, the waterfront, Euclid Avenue, the Detroit-Superior Bridge subway, area amusement parks, and historic food markets. Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, August 9, 7 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Quentins by Maeve Binchy on Monday, August 13 at 2 p.m.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m., we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, August 13 – Come in and make a glow in the dark moon mobile.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, August 14, 6-8 p.m.

Paws for Reading
Read a book to Edmund, a certified therapy dog. Bring a book or read one of ours! This is a great way for children to practice their literacy skills and gain more confidence in reading aloud. Children of all ages are welcome. Tuesday, August 14, 6:30 p.m.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, August 15.

Yoga for Kids
Join Nirvana Yoga for some yoga fun. Ages 2-7. Registration is appreciated. Thursday, August 16, 11 a.m.

Nordonia Hills Game Time
Join our regular gaming “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, August 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments served. No registration necessary.

Messy Monday
Messy Monday is one Monday a month. We will do blow dart painting on Monday, August 20 at 6 p.m.

Wellness Yoga: Yoga Off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Please dress in comfortable clothing and arrive 5-10 minutes early so that class may begin on time. This class is limited to twenty participants, and registration is strongly suggested. Tuesdays, August 21, 28, 6:30 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers. Our next discussion will be “Reader’s Choice” of a Keith McCafferty mystery on Wednesday, August 22 at 7 p.m.
