Monthly Challenges
For Grades K-5 – Monthly challenges will be located in children’s area. Complete the challenge for a chance to win a small prize. For the June challenge, challenge yourself with some sports trivia!

Summer Food Drive
In partnership with The Emergency Assistance Center of Northfield, the Library is hosting a summer food drive. Canned and boxed foods (non-expired) are requested. Drop off donations in the Library lobby June 1 – June 30.

Writers’ Guild of Nordonia Hills
Writers wanted! New writers and old hands welcome: fiction, nonfiction, and everything in between. Have your work critiqued and give feedback to others in a fun and friendly environment. Please bring a sample of your work to share. Light snacks provided. Meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 15.

Teen Cafe
For students in grade 5 and up. Thursdays at 2 p.m. between June 9 and July 30.
June 16 – Join Miss Sue and create a gift for Father’s Day.
June 23 – 4th Annual Paper Airplane Races! Come race your designs against other worthy opponents.
June 30 – Jeff Nicholas is back to draw cartoons with us.

Story Times
Baby Time
Thursdays, June 9-June 30 ,10:15 a.m.
For children 24 months and under with a parent or caregiver. Our programs feature bounces, songs, and stories.

Toddler Story Time
Thursdays, June 9- June 30, 11:15 a.m.
For children 2-3 years old, with two-year-olds accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Short stories, rhymes, and more!

Preschool Story Time
Thursday, June 9- June 30, 12:30 p.m.
For children 3-5 years old, not yet in Kindergarten. Stories, rhymes, and more!

Nordonia Hills Game Time
The library hosts a regular games “meet-up” each month for patrons who enjoy: board games, cards, chess, role-playing, war games, and collectible card games. The next meet-up will be on Saturday, June 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join fellow local players – Sharpen your intellect – Enjoy the social aspects of games. Refreshments are served. No registration is necessary.

School Age Fun!
For students in Kindergarten-5th grade. Tuesdays at 2 p.m.
June 21 – Outback Ray
June 28 – Magic with Mr. Zap

Lunch Bunch
Students going into Kindergarten through fourth grades are invited to join Miss Sue for a story and a craft. Bring your lunch and your listening ears. Dessert and beverages will be provided! Please register. Wednesdays, June 8-June 29, 12:30-2 p.m.

Mystery Book Discussions
The Mystery Book Lovers discussion group is an informal group of adult mystery readers, meeting the fourth Wednesday of each month. Our next discussion will be “Reader’s Choice” of a James Swain mystery on Wednesday, June 22 at 7 p.m.

Writers: Seasoned and New….Return to Basics
Author Gary Ockunzzi discusses the need to return to the beginnings as a way to stimulate creativity and write with compelling energy. Registration is suggested. Thursday, June 23 at 7 p.m.

Science Saturday
Join us for a visit from a park ranger from Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Children, school age and up, bring moms, dads, and the whole family. Saturday, June 25, 2:30 p.m.

5th & 6th Grade Book Club
We will meet to talk about this month’s book with a drink and a snack. Monday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m. – A Whole Nother Story by Cuthbert Soup.

Adult Coloring Night
Bring your own coloring book or choose from provided coloring pages and spend the evening relaxing and coloring with new friends. Wednesday, June 29, 6 p.m.

Neil Zurcher: THE BEST OF ONE TANK TRIPS
Ohio author and legendary traveler Neil Zurcher entertains with tales from the best of his “One Tank Trips.” Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, June 30 at 7 p.m.

Crafters’ Corner
Join your fellow craft enthusiasts for daylong fun. Bring your own supplies. All crafts welcome. Lots of table space to spread out. Refreshments served. Come for an hour or the entire day. Saturday, July 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Steppin’ Out: Jazz, Blues, and Standards
A live music performance by a three-person combo, combining jazz, blues, and timeless American standards. Refreshments served. Registration suggested. Thursday, July 7, 7 p.m.

The Art of Falconry: Up Close with Hawks
Meet a live falcon and learn about the ancient hunting tradition of falconry with a falconer from the Ohio Falconry Association. Learn the history of falconry, facts about birds of prey, and how to be a falconer, plus there will be a question and answer session. Saturday, July 9, 2-3 p.m.

Monday Casual Reads
Join us the second Monday of each month for reader-to-reader book discussions, fun, and sharing with fellow light reading lovers. We will discuss Breaking Silence by Linda Castillo on Monday, July 11 at 2 p.m.

3rd – 4th Grade Book Club
For children in 3rd-4th grades. Once a month at 4 p.m., we will read a different chapter book and then come in and talk about it with others over a drink and a snack. On Monday, July 11, we will read Cody and the Fountain of Happiness by Tricia Springstubb.

Stitch Clique
Grab your crocheting/knitting needles and yarn and stitch the evening away. Join us the second Tuesday of each month for crocheting/knitting tips, friendship, advice and more. Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, July 12, 6-8 p.m.

Socrates Café
Interested in candid, thought-provoking conversation? Join your fellow patrons at the Socrates Café, an informal adult discussion that takes place each month here at the library. The Cafe returns to Wednesdays in 2016 starting on Wednesday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m. 16 & over, please.

Coffee & Conversation Book Discussions
Join us for some great conversation with your fellow Nordonia Hills readers! Our afternoon book discussion group meets the second Thursday of each month. Our next discussion is Thursday, July 14 at 2 p.m. We will discuss The Execution of Noa P. Singleton by Elizabeth L. Silver.

Wellness Yoga: Yoga off the Mat
Learn soothing stretches that you can incorporate into your daily life in this gentle yoga series with Diane Bielecki, who graduated from the Cleveland Clinic School of Yoga. No mat is needed – stretches are done standing or in a chair. Fridays, July 15, 22, and 29 at 12:30 p.m.

Family Night
Join our program for families of all ages! One Monday a month at 6:30 p.m. we’ll get together for some great crafts. On Monday, July 18, create your own space night light.
