Nordonia Knights Varsity Can’t Catch Up To Olmsted Falls

Nordonia Knights Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-2 loss to Olmsted Falls on Monday.  Olmsted Falls took the lead on a fielder’s choice in the first inning.

The Nordonia Knights Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Olmsted Falls, giving up 12 runs.

Olmsted Falls opened up scoring in the first inning.  Kayla Kippes hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

Olmsted Falls scored five runs in the third inning.  Olmsted Falls’s big inning was driven by singles by Amanda Gilliland and Kippes, a groundout by Ashley Zgodzinski, and an error on a ball put in play by Keeley Patton.

Sara Zawadzki got the start for Olmsted Falls. She surrendered one run on four hits over three innings, striking out two and walking one.

Grace Daniels was in the circle for Nordonia Knights Varsity. She went four innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits and striking out four.  Jenna Cornett threw one inning in relief.

Nordonia Knights Varsity tallied one home run on the day. Jenn Willis had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Meg Crawford, Willis, Mijae Lewis, Cornett, Sam Daniels, Kaley Meadows, and Kat Pastor each managed one hit to lead Nordonia Knights Varsity.

Olmsted Falls racked up 12 hits on the day.  Zawadzki and Kippes each had multiple hits for Olmsted Falls.
