By Victor Milani
Former Northfield Village Mayor, and (Air Force) WWII Purple Heart Veteran N. Arch Milani, passed away earlier this week. He was the father of former 3 term Mayor Vic Milani, as well as Pam, Monica, and the late Kim Milani Masseria, the founder and original publisher of The News Leader in the 1980’s. He is survived by his wife Alice. Arch Milani held public office in Northfield Village in many capacities over five decades ranging from from Mayor, Councilman, Clerk and served on several committees over the years. Milani was also a career newspaperman/photographer having worked for the original Bulletin, and then retiring from The Sun Newspaper chain. He was also a consultant to myself and late sister Kim when we established the News Leader. His knowledge of everything from photography, to politics, to newspaper management, was instrumental in my career. I couldn’t have done what I have accomplished in my lifetime without my fathers wisdom and teachings. My father was my friend, mentor, and inspiration to overcome obstacles and hardships. He was a great supporter of VFW 6768, and the Palmer House. N. Arch Milani served his country and Northfield Village with strength, courage and wisdom. Arch was a a loving father to his children, and wife of 62 years Alice. Simply put, he was the greatest father I could ask for,. Northfield Village’s loss is Heavens gain. Services and burial were private. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300. Jacksonville, Florida, 32256.
