Obituary: JERRY R. HART

JERRY R. HART, age 69, of Northfield, Ohio, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019.  He was born on October 6, 1949 in Syracuse, New York, to Mary and Charles R. Hart.  Jerry graduated from Onondaga Central High School and Buffalo State University College (SUNY).  He was employed as a cartographer with the federal government in Maryland.  Later, he moved back to upstate New York where he worked for the Map Works Company in Rochester and eventually became a partner there.  Even after moving to Ohio, he continued working as a freelance map maker.  Jerry was an avid sports enthusiast.  He was a four-sport letterman in high school and continued his athletic career at Buffalo State.  He enjoyed following various high school, college and professional sports teams wherever he lived.  This also included his son Christopher’s professional motorcycle racing career.  Motorcycles and certain classic cars were among his favorite hobbies.  Family and faith were important to Jerry.  He was generous with his time and didn’t hesitate to extend a helping hand to others.  He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth and brother Charles W. Hart.  Jerry leaves behind many cherished family members and friends.  Surviving him are his beloved wife Mary Ann (nee Stillo); son Christopher (Sarah) Hart and grandson Cameron of California; brother Alan D. (Kathleen) Hart of New York; stepsons Ryan (Jacqueline) Rife and Logan (Alison) Rife of Ohio; nephews Michael Hart and Alan R. Hart and several cousins.  Jerry was the American father of Chinese exchange student Cathy Ning.  He will be missed by all who knew him.
