The DRUGLESS DOCTOR’S MINUTE: Bad Genes, Bad Germs & Bad Luck are not the Cause of Your Illness

By Dr. Krystosik

For years we were taught the myth our genes are our destiny. The truth is, the single biggest threat to your health is lifestyle choices. What you eat, how you think and how you move have a much greater impact on preventing and treating disease than bad genes, bad germs, and bad luck. New research proves your genes are not your destiny. Although the genes you inherit from your parents are fixed and permanent, the expression of your genes (epigenetics) can be altered by your habits, lifestyle and even financial choices you make. The take-home message: If you have a family history of cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s or any other chronic disease you don’t have to end up with the same. If you already have a chronic disease, your body is ready and willing to restore you to good health if you make healthy lifestyle choices. As a functional medicine physician, I provide my patients with a GPS system (a personalized roadmap) that empowers them to reclaim their health and prevent getting the diseases that “run” in their family. In order to reclaim your health and maintain it, you need to Think Well, Eat Well & Move Well. You can start doing this by taking a pro-active role in your health. Find out the “rest  of the story” on The Other Side of Medicine radio program Sundays at 1:00 on WNIR FM Akron, Ohio.
