The Spirit of Cooperation in the Name of Safety and Training!

The City of Macedonia Fire Department and the Village of Northfield Fire Department spent some quality time together training on live fire scenarios. The two departments cooperated and shared the cost of two days of live training at Cuyahoga County Community College West Campus, Center for Public Safety. The training consisted of two intense days in Tri-C’s state of the art burn building. Each day the firefighters were broken into 5 teams with assignments of 1. Fire Attack 2. Back up of attack 3. Search and Rescue 4. Ventilation 5. Rehab (time for rest, cool down and rehydration). Our area is fortunate not to have a large unfriendly fire problem so this training is immensely important to hone our skills for when they do occur. The knowledge, experience and expertise of the Tri-C instructors proved very valuable to our crews. Macedonia and Northfield Village Fire departments respond to ALL structure fires in the Nordonia Hills area through an Automatic Aid agreement put in place a few years ago. This is a benefit to all the communities that we serve. In the future we plan to repeat this training annually for all your Nordonia Hills firefighters.
