Veteran Macedonia police officer injured after cruiser rear ended on Christmas Eve

On December 24, 2018 at 1705 hours, a Macedonia Police unit was backing up other units on a traffic stop on 1-271 northbound north of the Ledge Rd. bridge, south of the Cuyahoga County line. While assisting with the traffic stop, a Macedonia Police Department cruiser, occupied by a veteran officer with the department, was rear-ended by a 56 year old Cuyahoga Falls male. The male was arrested by a Deputy with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. The officer was transported to Hillcrest Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no further information at this time.
