The Nordonia Knights boys basketball season was a tale of bad beginning, and a hot ending. Unfortunately the clock struck midnight for the valiant Knights, as they lost against #2 seed Medina,64-53. The Knights came in to the game riding a three game winning streak, previously beating Hudson, Wadsworth, and then Cuyahoga Falls in the first round of sectional play. The Knights fell behind 30-19 at the half, and couldn’t overcome the eleven point deficit in the second half. Senior Ryan Smith, in his final game in a Knight uniform, lead the Knights in scoring with 20 points, while fellow Seniors Mike Piotrowski and Luke Alders chipped in with six and four points respectively in their Knight finale. The rest of the Knights scoring: Jones-9, Petros and Evans 7 each. The Knights finish the year with an 8-16 record. Head Coach Mike Griffen will continue to rebuild the Knights, but will have to replace three Seniors. Tye Evans, the Jones twins, Drew Petros, Robby Levak, Spencer Harp and Gabe Byrd should continue the momentum into next year.
