Nonsense in the NEWS – “Just Helping Out” from the Macedonia Police Reports

Taken from a Macedonia Police Report

While patrolling the parking lot of a local store, a staff member approached me about a theft push-out that had just occurred. The staff member pointed out the individual wearing a peacoat who was approximately 20 feet away from me. The individual was pushing a cart full of merchandise none of which was bagged. I approached the individual and asked if he had a receipt. The individual stated that he was pushing the cart out to an unknown car, because another individual that he had never met before approached him and said “Can you push this out to my car for me? I just paid for it at the self checkout.” The first individual stated that I was letting the second individual “get away.” I asked him for a description of the second individual which he stated that he has very poor eye sight and had never met the individual until he was walking out of the store so he could not provide a description of the individual or the vehicle.

I proceeded to review the store’s video. The individual was seen walking through the store with two other unidentified individuals who could not be located. The original individual passed all points of sale without attempting to pay for the merchandise and exited into the parking lot, where I apprehended him. After confirming the theft from the store the individual was arrested for theft and transported back to the Macedonia Jail for booking.

There were 48 items in the cart for a total value of $608.99.

The individual was charged through Macedonia Mayor’s Court with theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
