So many opportunities to make new business connections – but so little time!  October is bursting at the seams with all the Chamber events scheduled.

The Annual State of the Schools is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 11 at 11:30 at Spennato’s Ristorante in NorthfieldNordonia Hills Superintendent Dr. Joe Clark and CVCC Superintendent Dave Mangas will update us on the successes of our local school system.  Please RSVP to 330-467-8956 so the chef is prepared!  Admission is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for all others.  This meeting is sponsored by Northfield HealthMarkets.  The community is invited as always.

How does your soup compare to your neighbor’s soup???  Is your chili the best in town?  The 3rd annual Nordonia Hills Chamber of Commerce Chili & Soup Cook-Off & Senior Expo, scheduled for Oct. 19, 11:00 – 2:00, at the Macedonia City Hall (9691 Valley View Rd, Macedonia 44056 – lower level) promises to be “souper” fun!!!  Event organizers are looking for cooks in the community to enter the contest and come prepared to share their best recipe. Attendees will select the winner and award a special ribbon – and bragging rights!  Soup and chili connoisseurs get all the soup or chili they can eat for $4.  Friday is the regularly scheduled Senior Out-to-Lunch day, so the seniors will be lining up early for the tastings!  The community also will be invited. Those looking to walk away with bragging rights for this year’s best soup or chili can enter by calling the chamber office (330-467-8956) or registering online.  NHCOC members onlyDisplay space is also available to promote senior-targeted products and services.  The cost for this space is $25 plus a raffle item ($20+ value). Space is limited so please don’t delay reserving your spot.

Candidates & Coffee Forum.  On Thursday, Oct. 25, 7:30 am, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Twinsburg, the Nordonia Hills, Twinsburg, Stowe-Munroe Falls and Hudson Chambers of Commerce join together to present a candidate’s event for the upcoming Ohio House and Senate election.  Legislative activity at the state level plays an important role in the local business climate, workforce and economic development ecosystem.  This Forum will provide an opportunity for the representatives of our member companies to become informed and educated citizens during this fall election season.  Scheduled to appear are: Mike Rasor, (Republican) and Casey Weinstein, (Democratic), vying for the Ohio House of Representatives 37th District and Kristina Roegner, (Republican) and Adam Van Ho, (Democratic), running for the Ohio Senate 27th District. Admission is $15 for Chamber members; $20 for others.  Please RSVP to 330-467-8956.  Registration Deadline:  Monday, October 22, 2018.  As this is an informational forum for Chamber members, we kindly request that campaign shirts, buttons, and signs not be displayed at the event. 

 

“How to be a Social Media Warrior” – By popular request, the Nordonia Hills Chamber and NordoniaHills.News have partnered to offer a 5-week program of social media classes for local business people.  The first class (How to decide which site is best for your business) will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7:00 pm at the Chamber Office.  The remaining classes will be held on subsequent Tuesdays: Week 2 – Instagram & Snap Chat; Week 3 – FaceBook; Week 4 – Twitter; Week 5 – Posting to multiple social media sites.  The cost for Chamber members is $60 for all 5 sessions or $15 per session; for non-members, the charge is $80 for all 5 classes, or $20 per session.  No refunds for missed classes.  Pre-registration only.  Seating is limited so please don’t delay.  Call 330-467-8956 to reserve your spot.  Grab your coffee to go and your laptop!  See you on Oct. 23!
