On Thursday, April 18, 2019, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Summit County
Sheriff’s Office, Green Fire Department and members of the Summit Metro Crash
Response Team responded to an accident that occurred on East Turkeyfoot Lake
Road in the City of Green. A 2004 Corvette travelling eastbound on East
Turkeyfoot Lake Road collided with a 1999 tractor trailer that was attempting to
turn into a gas station. After the collision, the Corvette struck a 2016 Honda Civic.
The driver of the Corvette, a 71 year old Green resident, was transported to Summa
Akron City Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the truck
and the driver of the Honda did not sustain any injuries in the crash. East
Turkeyfoot Lake Road was closed for approximately 3 hours. Alcohol does not
appear to be a factor in the crash.
