The Nordonia Knight played their first playoff game last Friday against the Lakeside Dragons. It was a very exciting game to watch with the Knights giving it their all and never letting up. Shout out to Sal Perrine who had an impressive four touchdowns during the game.
The first quarter was definitely the strongest part of the event for the Knights with a total of three touchdowns, three PATs and a three-pointer from the hallowed foot of Andrew Lastovka. Nordonia also recovered a fumble and sacked the QB all in the first. The Knights’ defense definitely came into this game strong and impenetrable. Nordonia ended the first quarter with a generous lead, 24-0.
The Knights continued their onslaught during the second adding three more touchdowns to the score, widening their tremendous lead. Nordonia’s defense added another sack and held Lakeside off from getting a touchdown. Nordonia now 45, Lakeside 0 at the end of the first half. That unsparing lead allowed the crowd to see some fresh faces on the gridiron while the clock ticked down.
The third and fourth quarters were less brutal for the visiting Dragons. Lakeside scored their first and only touchdown of the night allowing them to put up 7 points. Nordonia was able to kick for three bringing the final score of the game to 48-7.
The Knights ended the game with 438 yards gained, almost doubling Lakeside’s. Nordonia will be playing again next week for their second playoff game against Mayfield. This game will be hosted at Mayfield’s home stadium. Go Knights!
