Caregiver Education Programs: Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter

During this time of uncertainty, the Alzheimer’s Association will continue to offer free care and support  Please find below our upcoming education programs. You are invited to join us, and we encourage you to invite your friends and family.
Virtual education programs are free to participate, but pre-registration is required. You will receive access information by email as part of your registration confirmation. Virtual education programs can be joined by computer, iPad, iPhone or Android devices. A telephone dial-in number is also available if you cannot access video through computer or phone.  Our 24/7 Helpline can also register you, and answer any caregiving or brain health questions you may have: 800.272.3900.

Caregiving Through the Holidays 

While the holidays are a joyous time for many families, the holiday season brings added stress and demand for many caregivers. Join the Alzheimer’s Association for this program to discuss strategies to seek better communication and connection with your loved ones, and suggestions to make the holidays more manageable and enjoyable for yourself.

Caregiver Resource and Wellness Series Week 4: Managing Caregiver Stress and Burnout

Alzheimer’s caregivers frequently report experiencing high levels of stress. It can be overwhelming to take care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s or other dementia, but too much stress can be harmful to both of you. Karen Elliott, Clinical Manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter, will join this program to provide practical suggestions on managing caregiver stress and reducing burnout, and discuss resources available for caregivers.

Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior

Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways for people with dementia to communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges for caregivers to manage. Join us to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
