Nordonia Knights snagged a late lead and defeated Trinity 8-7 on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with Nordonia Knights batting in the top of the seventh when a sacrifice bunt by Louis Hover scored one run for Nordonia Knights.
Trinity scored four runs in the second inning, but Nordonia Knights still managed to pull out the victory. Luke McKiernan, Michael Clancy, and Matt Trimble powered the big inning with RBIs.
Trinity got things moving in the first inning, when Ian Anderson doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Nordonia Knights put up four runs in the sixth inning. Nordonia Knights offense in the inning was led by Jordan Newhouse, Billy Levak, and Jared Zender, who all drove in runs.
Logan Shaffer earned the win for Nordonia Knights. The righthander went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking one. Dominic Perrine, Jonathan Mitchner, and Matt Carozza all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Mitchner recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Nordonia Knights.
#21 took the loss for Trinity. The hurler surrendered three runs on five hits over two innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Ricky McLeod started the game for Nordonia Knights. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out one Clancy started the game for Trinity. The bulldog lasted one inning, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out three and walking zero
