Nordonia Knights Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Nordonia Knights watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 16-1 loss to Gilmour Academy on Tuesday. Gilmour Academy scored on a double by Charlie Shepherdand a single by Kyle Laws in the first inning.

The Nordonia Knights struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Gilmour Academy, giving up 16 runs.

Gilmour Academy got on the board in the first inning. Gilmour Academy scored two runs when Shepherd doubled.

Gilmour Academy scored 12 runs in the second inning. Gilmour Academy big bats were led by Ben DeMell, Shepherd, Bandwen, Laws, Paddy Murphy, and Will Lazzaro, all driving in runs in the frame.

Murphy led things off on the hill for Gilmour Academy. The fireballer surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out one and walking one.

Brad Buddenhagen started the game for Nordonia Knights. The righthander lasted one and one-third innings, allowing seven hits and 12 runs while striking out two. Adam Yuzwa and Hunter Grams entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one inning respectively.

Billy Levak, Jonathan Mitchner, and Andrew Lastovka each collected one hit to lead Nordonia Knights.

Gilmour Academy collected 12 hits. Murphy, Laws, and Tommy McCrone each had multiple hits for Gilmour Academy.
