Social media leads to arrest:  A warrant for assault and disorderly conduct was filed by police on July 9th, against an Illinois man who was allegedly involved in an assault of a clerk at an East Highland Road inn earlier that evening. Police used video from the alleged assault, as well as the identification of a woman who booked a room at the inn. “From the video, I observed that the unidentified subject was a white male, between 30-40 years of age, slender build, average height, with shortly cut hair, glasses, and a distinct long and straight beard,” according to the police report.
Police searched social media and found a woman who appeared to be similar to the photograph of the issued driver’s license copied by the inn. The name of the man who allegedly assaulted the clerk, was listed as her husband. Police dispatch obtained a copy of his driver’s license photo.
“Based on his physical description, hair style, and distinct beard I was able to positively identify him as the unidentified suspect in the [alleged] assault,” according to the report.
