March 4 – Domestic Violence and Slashed Tires
Officers responded to Empire Die Casting after a man reported being assaulted by his ex-girlfriend in the parking lot. The victim stated she struck him in the face with an open hand, breaking a portion of his glasses, before producing what he believed was a knife and slashing his tires. Officers observed three flattened tires on his Chevrolet Equinox and heard the distinctive hissing sound of leaking air. The suspect admitted to striking the victim and damaging his vehicle. Both parties coordinated to have a family member take custody of their two-year-old child who was present during the incident.
March 6 – Theft and Hide-and-Seek at Best Buy
Best Buy employees reported a female suspect who had concealed an Amazon Fire Stick in her bag. Security footage showed her removing the device from its packaging before leaving past all points of sale despite being confronted by staff. Officers located the suspect hiding behind the store’s trash compactor after reviewing exterior security footage. When officers announced their presence and drew service weapons, the suspect surrendered. In addition to the Fire Stick components (charging cord and remote), officers found various tagged items from TJ Maxx in her possession.
March 6 – Prisoner’s Medical Excuse
A man brought to Macedonia Jail on theft and marijuana possession warrants began complaining of foot and stomach pain immediately after booking began. When officers offered medical assistance, he claimed he had been hit by a car the previous night before his arrest in Cleveland. After being transported to Cleveland Clinic Twinsburg by EMS, officers confirmed with Cleveland Police that the prisoner had made no mention of an accident or injuries during his arrest. At approximately 7:00 PM, hospital staff reported the man had simply walked out of the facility without receiving treatment.

March 6 – Paranoia at the Gas Pump
A woman at GetGo was reported hiding in the manager’s office after believing someone was in her trunk. Officers observed her appearing visibly upset and paranoid, constantly looking through the window at her car. She mentioned worrying about her “mom’s ex-boyfriend” doing something “very dirty” to her but couldn’t provide a name. When officers checked her vehicle, finding nothing suspicious, the woman’s entire demeanor changed – her body language relaxed, and visible relief showed in her eyes.
March 8 – Armed Psychiatric Episode
Macedonia officers provided backup after Northfield Village Police requested assistance with a man experiencing a psychotic episode while armed with a firearm. Dispatchers successfully convinced the subject to put down the weapon and exit the home before officers arrived. Police secured the firearm and coordinated transport for a psychiatric evaluation.
Other Incidents
March 10 – Mystery Bags Investigation
Service department employees discovered suspicious trash bags on N. Freeway Drive that had “considerable weight” and emitted “the odor of decay.” Upon investigation, officers discovered two deer carcasses in the double-bagged containers. Both animals appeared to have been hit by vehicles and were subsequently removed by the service department.
March 7 – Needle in the Bathroom
Walmart security inspecting bathrooms discovered a used needle placed next to the flushable toilet seat covers in the men’s restroom. Store management explained they couldn’t remove the item since it was considered a biohazard. Officers secured the needle, which contained an unknown black substance, and placed it in a sharps container for destruction.
March 7 – Teenage Troublemakers
Police responded to multiple calls about juveniles causing disturbances throughout Macedonia Commons, including reports of teens beating on car windows and causing disruptions at Famous Footwear. One juvenile wearing “a hoodie, blonde hair, glasses, and a thin mustache” was identified as having been previously banned from Walmart property. Store security footage confirmed the trespass violation, resulting in juvenile charges.
