Local teams finish strong at Boulder Creek event
Several golfers from the Nordonia Hills community made their mark at the 2025 Ohio.Golf 2-Player Better Ball tournament at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Streetsboro.
Mike Simpson from Uniontown and Jimmy Wild from Sagamore Hills captured a share of the championship, tying for first place at 4-under par 68. The duo earned $383.33 for their efforts and also collected a $210 skin with their birdie on the eighth hole.
Simpson and Wild held the lead after racing to 5-under par through 10 holes but struggled over their final eight holes with three bogeys, including a critical bogey at the 18th that cost them the solo victory.
Nicolas Wendel-Pinyon and Alex Stoneman, both from Northfield, finished fourth at 1-under par 69, earning $130 and also capturing a skin with their birdie on the 13th hole.
The tournament was held on a hot and windy Saturday, with three teams sharing the title at 4-under par 68. Nicklaus Pidgeon and Evan Disanto, along with Rob Schustrich and Nate Matthews, joined the local duo atop the leaderboard.
Both Pidgeon-Disanto and Schustrich-Matthews played bogey-free rounds with four birdies each to match the winning score.
The event featured 16 teams competing in the better ball format, with the final prize payout going to fourth place.
