NORTHFIELD, Ohio – The Northfield Village Police Department handled a diverse range of criminal activity between March 18 and March 24, 2026, ranging from felony drug arrests to theft at the MGM Casino. Significant incidents included a high-level narcotics discovery during a traffic stop on Chestnut Avenue and an OVI arrest involving a high blood-alcohol concentration on Northfield Road. This summary provides a detailed look at the public safety activity within the Nordonia Hills community over the past week.
Felony Drug Possession Arrest on Chestnut Avenue
The week began with a significant narcotics seizure on March 18, 2026. Northfield Village officers conducted a traffic stop at approximately 7:58 a.m. on Chestnut Avenue (SR 8 SB) for an improper turn and expired license plates. During the stop, officers observed suspicious items in plain view, leading to a K9 unit being called to the scene for a “free air sniff”. Following a positive indication from the K9, a search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, a scale, and a meth pipe concealed under the gear shifter panel. Both occupants were arrested and charged with fourth-degree felony drug possession.
OVI Arrest and Impaired Driving Investigations
Early on March 19, 2026, an officer on routine patrol stopped a white Ram pickup near Northfield Road and Olde 8 Road for speeding and marked lanes violations. The officer detected the odor of alcohol and observed signs of impairment from the driver. After failing Field Sobriety Tests, the driver was arrested and later submitted to a breath test, which resulted in a .135 BAC. The driver was cited for OVI and Prohibited BAC and is scheduled to appear in Stow Court on May 23, 2026.
