Animal Control Hosting Volunteer Orientation On May 20

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—County Executive Ilene Shapiro is inviting individuals interested in volunteering at Animal Control to attend a volunteer orientation on Saturday, May 20 at 9:00 a.m. The event will be held at 250 Opportunity Parkway in Akron. Animal Control is collaborating with a local non-profit, Pay It Forward For Pets, to launch a revamped volunteer program. Staff will review policies and procedures, and share exciting new opportunities available through the volunteer program.

An in-person volunteer orientation is mandatory to participate in the volunteer program. Individuals who previously volunteered at Animal Control are required to register and attend an orientation to resume service in the facility. All participants will be required to complete volunteer paperwork. This can be done prior to the orientation at https://summitanimalcontrol.galaxydigital.com/ or upon arrival at the orientation. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Additional orientation events will be announced in the future.

To register, email volunteerac@summitoh.net with your name, age, phone number and a brief statement of interests and intent.
