Devin Sethna, Senior at Nordonia High School has written a book called, “As the Earth Lay Dreaming”, his pen name is Kamina Sethna. He started the book in late July to early August of 2022, and has been an inspiring writer for years prior to that. In a recent Nordonia Hills.News interview, he tells me he gets his inspiration from many, MANY sources, but for this book in particular, he was inspired by real life scientific theories, namely evolution and plate tectonics. Some writers he takes his inspiration from are Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, J.R.R. Tolkien, H.P. Lovecraft, and Grant Morrison, to name a few. Kamina is an acronym for Kindness, Appreciation, Motivated, Imaginative, Nature, Advertence. Additionally, Kamina is similar in sound to the hindi word Kavitra -which translates to the word poetry.

“This is the very first book within the “Kein Zurück collective”. When you think of Superhero stories and comic books, two franchises come to mind – Marvel and DC. Kein Zurück is going to become the third great entertainment franchise. It is going to revolutionize the fiction of the 21st century.
Three hundred million years in the future, the world would be practically unrecognizable to us. Due to the gradual process of plate tectonics, all the continents have merged back together into a single supercontinent, called Neopangea. Likewise, humanity has now evolved to live beneath the Earth’s crust.
For a while now, Humans have lived deep into the Earth, growing fully accustomed to underground life. But one question remains – What lies beyond? What is there to be found not just above the surface, but above the horizon? What treasure awaits humanity within the little lights in the sky, which we call planets and stars? It is indeed an intriguing mystery, but perhaps only the most daring of adventurers are willing to seek answers . . .”

Devin began writing about eight years ago, with most of his writing being about already existing franchises, with his own imaginative characters inserted into the stories. He began actually making his own original stories from the ground-up about five years ago. “As the Earth Lay Dreaming” is his very first officially published work, with about a dozen other concepts in the works. Some others include more novels, some animated series, and even concepts for video games; all of which he plans to publish in the near future.
Devin is also a member of the mock trial team at Nordonia High School. His father Farhad Sethna, who is an immigration attorney, is the legal advisor for the team. When Devin isn’t busy writing or participating in mock trials, he plays on the high school varsity soccer team as a goalie and on field as a wing midfielder.
He attends Cuyahoga Valley Career Center for the Fire and EMS academy, and practices martial arts in his free time. Lastly, he’s a huge animal lover. He has three cats that were all adopted from an animal shelter. The third one has a missing leg, but that doesn’t stop her from jumping on all the tables and eating all the flowers, much to his mother’s dismay.
After graduation he intends to go to TRI-C for the fire academy, to become a firefighter. However, his main focus is going to be on his writing. In fact, he’s already begun development on his next book. He thinks his next book will revolutionize the fictional literature of the 21st century, but will not be available until he graduates high school in 2024.
Devin Sethna, an extraordinarily multi-skilled senior at Nordonia High School, has written and published his very first book. Readers will be fully engrossed in “As the Earth Lay Dreaming”, and this will be the first of many books to come.
