Ask Your Local Audiologist: Can I connect my hearing aids to my TV?

Question: Can I connect my hearing aids to my TV?

Answer: Most patients have the option of purchasing a TV streamer. A TV streamer plugs into the users TV and sends the signal directly from the TV to the patient’s hearing aids. This removes any interference from noise in the room. This also allows the patient to set the volume to their preference and keep the standard TV volume at a level someone else in the house may prefer. Many manufacturers also make their TV streamers in a way that allows for multiple sets of hearing aids to be connected at once. Therefore, if there are multiple hearing aid users in the home, they can both benefit from one streamer if they have the same manufacturer. Some other factors that influence access to a TV streamer are the age of the hearing aid, if the hearing aid is wireless, and the sound system of the TV. Call the office to schedule a consult if you are interested in a TV streamer.
