Ask Your Local Audiologist: How long do hearing aids last?

Question: How long do hearing aids last?

Answer: In general, hearing aids last approximately five to seven years. It is important to complete regular maintenance on the aid to prolong the life of the hearing aid. Wiping of the aid daily with a microfiber cloth or tissue helps keep any openings on the aid from getting clogged. Most hearing aid users also have their device cleaned by a professional every four to six months. The professional can not only deep clean the hearing aid but also perform a listening check to ensure the device still functions properly.
