Ask Your Local Audiologist: How often should I have my hearing checked?

Question: How often should I have my hearing checked?

Answer: If you are 60 years of age or older, it is recommended to have a baseline test completed. Having your hearing evaluated when you are hearing well provides the audiologist with results to compare to if you do experience hearing difficulties later. Also, if you are younger than 60 years old but suspect a decrease in hearing or are experiencing other audiologic symptoms such as ringing or fullness in the ears, a test is recommended. After the first evaluation, a repeat evaluation every two years is often suggested to monitor any progression. Monitoring any changes in hearing is very important for those with untreated hearing loss. If you are interested in having a hearing evaluation completed call the Northfield office today!
