Barktober deal lets Summit County residents adopt a dog for $28

Summit County residents can bring home a dog for just $28 this month. County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Summit County Animal Control announced a promotion called Barktober on Thursday. It runs from Thursday, Oct. 1, through Saturday, Oct. 31.

What the $28 fee covers

The fee includes everything a new pet needs for a healthy start at home. Every adopted dog is microchipped and fully vetted. Veterinary care includes bloodwork, flea treatments, intestinal deworming, spay or neuter and vaccinations. A Summit County dog license also comes with each adoption. Dogs are ready to go home right away.

What Shapiro said

Shapiro encouraged residents across the county, including the Nordonia Hills area, to consider adopting.

“Our dogs at Animal Control are ready to find their forever homes, and ‘Barktober’ is the perfect opportunity to welcome a new member into your family,” Shapiro said. “I encourage residents to stop by Animal Control and consider giving one a loving home this fall.”
