Newly Expanded Coverage - Not Just Nordonia Hills News

Bill Varner (father of Carmella) thanks the community for support

Its hard to write to you all but I feel you all must know. I do not have words only emotions and feelings which is so bizarre for me. Please know that Andrea Bastulli Sim Varner and I are more grateful than anyone can possibly imagine. Please know we love you all and Carmella’s legacy of just 9 years lives on within so many people. We read every letter and saw every picture from her class at Rushwood Elementary and Nordonia Junior High last night. This may have been harder than the past 3 days but there were so many beautiful letters and cards that words just do not apply. I am not sure what to say other than Thank you!

[Editor’s note Bill Varner, his daughter Carmella and mother Lea Varner were involved in a car accident. Tragically Carmela did not survive. A Go Fund Me account was set up to help with the funeral arrangements. The $15,000 goal was reached in less than a week. If you go to the Go Fund Me page: Varner Family Go Fund Me Account , you will see that many of amounts donated were small. But together they add up.

At the Nordonia game Friday night, the student section changed their theme to white because Carmella loved Star Wars so much. They had a moment of silence at the game and collected money for her family at the tailgate party before the game and at the concession stands during the game.

There was a celebration of life gathering at Rushwood Elementary where Carmella attended.  It is nice to see that this community pulls together in time of need. Not just monetarily but also cards, letters, pictures and support.]
