About Busta Rhymes

Busta Rhymes has always been a Hip-Hop outlier. Introduced to the world as a member of the Leaders of The New School and part of the Native Tongues movement, he has always been embraced by the purists. He has gone on to achieve a tremendous amount of global commercial success, with each of his first five solo albums attaining Platinum certification, and an impressive list of top 10 hits as both a solo and featured artist. Busta Rhymes has also established himself as an actor, with a filmography that includes appearances alongside the likes of Sean Connery, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Laurence Fishburne, Ray Liotta, Whoopi Goldberg, Nick Cannon, Louis Gossett Jr., and Regina King. Yet with all of these years and accomplishments under his belt, Busta Rhymes continues to celebrate new milestones: his newly released tenth solo album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God is the first sequel in his storied 29-year career, arriving 22 years after the original. The album is Rhymes’ first retail offering in 11 years. But he’s hardly been inactive. Within the years, since 2009’s Back on My B.S., he’s appeared on several high profile releases, including Chris Brown’s hit single “Look At Me Now” and “How We Roll,” a collaboration with Don Omar for the Fast Five soundtrack. And with songs like his Conglomerate Ent/Cash Money Records debut, “Twerk It,” produced by Pharrell Williams, he proved himself capable of staying current without dampening his legendary lyrical skills. As a label executive and tastemaker, he expanded his Flipmode Squad crew into a boutique label. And with the creation of a second imprint, The Conglomerate Ent., over a decade later, he introduced the world to several new acts, including multi-platinum star O.T. Genasis. Busta Rhymes has consistently kept up with Hip-Hop’s evolution while remaining true to himself and continuing to be one of the most unique and creative voices in Hip-Hop.
