Teeing Up for Business. It’s a myth; deals are seldom finalized on the golf course. However, don’t be confused – that’s where many deal-closing relationships are made. Business golf is not a meeting moved outdoors. The fine points of a contract probably will be covered at another time. But what transpires during a round of golf can be the foundation for a lasting business relationship. Golf provides the opportunity to spend as much as 4 to 6 hours of quality time with a business client or colleague. Few other venues offer such an extended period to interact and develop mutual respect.
Have you registered yet for the 22nd Annual NHCOC Golf Outing? This year’s event is scheduled for Aug. 11 at Fox Den Golf Course in Stow. The Shotgun start is 9:00 am, following breakfast provided by Chick-fil-A. $115 includes 18 holes, cart, goodie bag, breakfast, snack bag and dinner. Foursome discounts are available. Bring your wallet to take advantage of the Pick-a-Prize Raffle, 50/50 Raffle and Tower of Booze. Partial proceeds from the 50/50 will provide a Michael Dolan Memorial First Tee of Cleveland scholarship for a deserving youth. We are still accepting raffle prizes ($50 minimum value), goodie bag items, wine, beer and liquor for the tower. Come spend the day with us. Snack bags are being assembled by our friends at Sam’s Club. Appetizers before the steak dinner are provided by Vista Springs and Golden Corral. Brentwood Health Care Center is providing dessert. Most everyone knows what the Chamber of Commerce is and how it can be useful for business in the local area. However, what about for home based businesses? Your Chamber of Commerce can be one of the best friends your home-based business can have.
The Nordonia Hills Chamber is listening to what this community needs – we’re organizing a home-based business group to ensure you take advantage of all the benefits of our business community. You will be mixing with a host of like-minded people – small business owners who, like you, are juggling payroll, taxes, a tough economy, and home life. There will be people to bounce ideas off of and ideas from others that can be applied to your business as well. We will have monthly meetings where a topic of particular interest to home-based businesses is presented, in addition to a quarterly after-hours for additional casual networking.
Plan to attend our first meeting on Wed., Aug. 16, 9-10:30 in the Chamber office (159 E. Aurora Rd., Northfield—lower level, rear of the building) to learn more and contribute your ideas to the future of this new group. Our speaker this month will let us know how to make our small at-home business look like a large store-front/manufacturer! We’ll have light refreshments, as well. RSVP please to laura@nordoniahillschamber.org or 330-467-8956.
