Chipotle Mexican Grill is celebrating National Burrito Day in style, bringing back its popular digital word game “Burrito Vault” with bigger prizes and more opportunities to win than ever before.
The interactive game, which launches today, will give away up to 157,500 Buy-One-Get-One free entrée codes and other prizes, including free burritos for a year for the fastest players each hour.
How to Play and Win
Starting at 9:00 am ET today through Wednesday, April 2nd at 11:59 pm ET, Chipotle Rewards members can test their burrito-building skills at UnlockBurritoDay.com. Players must correctly guess a complete Chipotle order combination within four attempts to unlock the vault.
The first 2,500 members who crack the code each hour will receive a BOGO entrée offer to use on National Burrito Day (April 3). In a new twist for 2025, the first player to unlock the vault each hour will win the grand prize: free burritos for an entire year.
For those who solve the puzzle after all hourly BOGO codes have been claimed, Chipotle will award 25 rewards points to their account (limited to one-time per player during the campaign).
Changes for This Year’s Game
After last year’s overwhelming response – with the game being played more than two million times and prizes claimed in under 20 minutes – Chipotle has made strategic adjustments. The winning code to the Burrito Vault will change hourly, spreading prize opportunities across the three-day event.
The restaurant chain is also offering a $0 delivery fee on National Burrito Day for all Chipotle Rewards members who order via the company’s website or app using code DELIVER.
Expansion Plans Amid Strong Growth
The game’s return comes as Chipotle continues its aggressive expansion strategy. Despite unfounded rumors about closures that circulated online recently, the company is in growth mode, with plans to open between 315 and 345 new restaurants in 2025. At least 80% of these new locations will feature Chipotle’s drive-thru “Chipotlane” service.
The company’s financial position remains robust, with a reported 14.6% year-over-year revenue increase in 2024, over $2 billion in cash reserves, and zero debt. In the past year alone, Chipotle opened 304 new locations while closing only five underperforming stores.
Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s Chief Brand Officer, noted: “Last year, our Burrito Vault drove unprecedented fan engagement that resulted in our highest digital transaction day of all time. Now, we are giving them another chance to crack the code and score more free burritos.”
The competition highlights the chain’s customizable menu, which features over 53 fresh ingredients and more than one billion possible burrito combinations.
