Football: Knights Topple a Ranked Rival
Friday, Sept. 18 — Nordonia 23, Hudson 9 (home, Boliantz Stadium)
The Knights bounced back in style. Hudson came in ranked No. 23 in the state and undefeated at 4-0 — Nordonia handed them their first loss of the season. It was Nordonia’s fifth straight home win dating back to last year, and it pushes their record to 4-1.
This snaps a rough Week 2: Nordonia had opened 3-0 before falling on the road to Highland, 23-21, on Sept. 11.
Season scoring average: 34.2 points per game.
QB Steven Fakult has been the engine — he torched Villa Angela-St. Joseph earlier this season for 284 yards and 4 TDs.
RB CJ Mayes has been a factor on both sides of the ball this fall.

Nordonia dropped a tight one at home, falling 1-0 to Copley on Wednesday, Sept. 16. It’s their third game without a win (0-1-2) since an earlier three-game winning streak — a bit of a cold spell for a team still finding its footing after early losses to Stow-Munroe Falls (1-4) and Kenston (0-2).
Girls — 3-5
The Knights broke out offensively, beating Geneva 3-2 for their highest-scoring output of the season. It caps a six-game home stretch — they now hit the road to face Aurora Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
