The United Methodist Church of Macedonia is inviting the public to a series of upcoming community events, including a social justice speaker series, a powerful musical production, and the annual community Easter egg hunt.
MACEDONIA, Ohio – The United Methodist Church of Macedonia is set to become a hub of community activity this spring, hosting a diverse lineup of events ranging from educational speaker series to festive family celebrations. With several programs scheduled over the coming weeks, residents have multiple opportunities to engage with local issues, experience performing arts, and celebrate the season with family.
Nordonia Hills Community Connection: Refugees and Immigration
The first immediate event in the Speaker Series takes place tomorrow, Thursday, February 26, at 10:00 a.m. Liv Randall from The International Institute of Akron will visit the Fellowship Hall to discuss immigrant and refugee resettlement in Summit County. The session aims to educate community members on how to be welcoming neighbors to new American residents and understand the work of the International Institute.
Tetélestai Musical Production
Starting Friday, February 27, the church will host “Tetélestai,” a musical portrayal of the trial, execution, and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah. Presented by Cleveland Performing Arts Ministries, the production features a script and lyrics by Joel Nagy with a musical score by Russ Nagy. Performances are scheduled for Friday, February 27, and Saturday, February 28, at 8:00 p.m., with a final matinee on Sunday, March 1, at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free, though donations are accepted.
Annual Eggstravaganza and Egg Hunt
On Saturday, March 21, the church will host its annual Eggstravaganza from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. This family-friendly afternoon includes refreshments, a puppet station, crafts, and photos with the Easter Bunny. The Easter egg hunt schedule is staggered by age: 1-3 year olds at 1:30 p.m., 4-6 year olds at 2:00 p.m., and children aged 7 and older at 2:30 p.m.
Nordonia Hills Community Connection: Human Trafficking
The Speaker Series concludes its current schedule on Thursday, March 26, at 10:00 a.m. Bethany Miller from RAHAB Ministries will provide extensive information about the realities of human and sex trafficking within Summit County. This session will highlight how these issues differ from typical perceptions and detail the work RAHAB is doing to support victims in the local area.
