WASHINGTON, DC- On Friday, Congressman Joyce announced the 2018 Congressional Art Competition Winners. This year, 88 students from 7 different high schools throughout Ohio’s 14th District submitted their artwork to Congressman Joyce for the competition.
A long-standing tradition, the Congressional Art Competition was founded in 1982 by Members of Congress to allow high school students from across the country to show case their artistic abilities. The first-place winner is invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony in Washington D.C., where her artwork will be put on display in the Capitol and remain there for one year. The second-place winning entry will hang in Congressman Joyce’s Washington D.C. office for the year. The third and fourth place winners will have their artwork on display in the Congressman’s district offices for one year.
Congressman Joyce also held a ‘People’s Choice Award’ on Facebook, where constituents were encouraged to vote for their favorite artist. The artwork with the most votes will also be on display in the Mentor Office for one year.
