County Approves $200,00 to Food Bank for Emergency Distribution

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—On Monday, March 16, 2020, Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro and County Council approved legislation to award $200,000 to the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. The funds will be used to distribute additional food to local pantries for families, seniors and others who have been affected by the COVID-19 situation.

“This public health emergency has led to major disruptions in the lives of most Summit County residents. These disruptions are especially harmful to families, children and seniors,” said Executive Shapiro. “The money given to the Food Bank will mitigate this harm and help ensure no one goes hungry during these uncertain times. Thank you to the Food Bank for working with us to serve our residents most in need.”
