SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro is encouraging teens and young adults to apply for the annual Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) by May 15. SYEP offers residents ages 16-23 a summer job where they can learn skills and earn an income. A parent or legal guardian must apply. Only one application may be submitted per household, and each household must meet the minor-child requirement and have an income that does not exceed 200% of the federal poverty level.
In 2022, SYEP saw participation from 127 young people who collectively earned $203,141 working for employers such as the Akron Zoo, Crave Restaurant, Lock 3, Shanti Community Farms, Students with a Goal (SWAG), and The Workz.
The Summer Youth Employment Program is first come first serve; residents should apply as soon as possible here: tinyurl.com/syep23.
