County Executive supports Eviction Prevention Summit

SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO—On Thursday, April 28, 2022, County Executive Ilene Shapiro declared the week of April 25-29 Eviction Prevention Week in Summit County. County Executive Shapiro presented her proclamation to Community Legal Aid Executive Director Steven McGarrity at the inaugural Eviction Prevention Summit. This event was organized in response to the growing eviction crisis in the County.

In making her declaration, County Executive Shapiro commended the collaborative community response to the crisis and thanked the community leaders working tirelessly to reduce the number of evictions in Akron and Summit County. She also noted her office’s support of these efforts, including the Summit County Cares program that has provided millions of dollars in rental payments to residents in need since 2020 and has continued to prioritize aid to those facing eviction.
