SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO — County Executive Ilene Shapiro is proud to announce that staff member Tiera Moore has been honored with the Gender, Equity, Advocacy and Representation (G.E.A.R.) award from Kent State University’s Women’s Center. This recognition celebrates community members who are “turning the gears” toward equity through innovation, policy, and outreach.
About Tiera Moore
Moore, a Kent State University alumna, currently serves as:
- President of the Kent City School District Board of Education
- Executive Assistant to Chief of Staff Brian Nelsen in Summit County
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from Kent State
- Master of Science in Geography from Kent State
During her time at Kent State, Moore also served as Student Body President in Undergraduate Student Government. Before her current role, she worked as a Community Liaison for Congresswoman Emilia Sykes.

The second annual G.E.A.R. Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 18 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Kent State Hotel and Conference Center.
