The Nordonia Hills School District received the highest honor available for fiscal excellence at the February 21 regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting.
“I’m honored to be here tonight on behalf of State Auditor Keith Faber to present the Nordonia Schools the Auditor’s Award with Distinction; it’s the highest award our office gives out,” a state representative said.
Less than 5 percent of the 6,000 entities in Ohio earn the award with distinction, he said.
The award “speaks to” how the Board, teachers, staffers, superintendent, and parents pull together for fiscal excellence, the representative added.
District Treasurer and CFO Matt Brown accepted the award.
“I would also like to thank my staff because obviously, they’re the ones day in and day out who work with the auditors,” Brown said. “They work tirelessly to make sure what we give them is following state law and federal law. Thank you to all my staff.”
