The Nordonia Lady Knights recently participated in the OHSAA Sectionals Tournament, held at Fox Den Golf Course with 15 competing schools.
The Lady Knights Golf team put up a strong performance, shooting a collective score of 330, which secured them a respectable 4th place in the tournament. Leading the charge was junior Julia Gulla, who displayed exceptional skill with an individual score of 72.
Senior Brooke Barnes also delivered a commendable performance, narrowly behind with an individual score of 80. Other notable individual scores included Natalie Barnes with 88, Carley Sutton with 90, and Madisen Eisner with 102.
In terms of individual results, Julia Gulla achieved the 2nd best performance, sharing the position with Isabella Goyette of Highland High School. The medalist of the tournament was Paige McKendry from Highland.
The overall team rankings for the Sectionals Tournament saw the Highland Hornets take the top spot with a total score of 293, maintaining their lead throughout. Walsh Jesuit Warrior secured the 2nd position with a combined effort of 317 points, and the Hudson Girls Golf team claimed 3rd place with a total of 319 points.
These three teams, the Highland Hornets, Walsh Jesuits, and Hudson Explorers, earned their spots at Districts. Notably, the Nordonia Knights secured the 4th position, and they too are advancing to the Districts with the opportunity to compete at Brookledge next week.
It’s worth mentioning that in the previous year, Nordonia had clinched the second-place spot in a tiebreaker against Hudson, and they now aim to repeat that performance and advance to the state tournament.
